How good is our blog? The best indicator is our CLAWBIE (Canadian legal blog award). But I was also glad to learn more about our Page Rank (PR). Page Rank is Google’s ranking system that indicates how authoritative and credible a website is. Every single website is ranked on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest. According to the Rainmaker Institute, Page Rank is a logarithmic scale, like the Richter scale. “Each step up is a multiple of 100.” So a PR of 5 is 100 times more credible in Google’s eyes than a PR of 4, and 10,000 times more credible than a PR of 3. “Very few legal websites in the legal industry ever rise above a 3 or 4″ and a PR of 5 “is very rare”. (CANLII, of course, gets a 7- congratulations!)
It’s probably not that simple- no one outside Google knows for sure. But go ahead and check out our Page Rank anyway! PR is a good indication of the power of a particular page, but Google is moving away pretty quickly from that, so right now you don't really have an indicator to show you the strength of your site/blog.
You need to rely on rankings from other services like Technorati, which provide some kind of classification of blogs by category. Personally I like your blog. I don't work in the industry, but I'm concerned about environment and have my own projects to cover different aspects of this industry.
