Dianne gave a well received introduction to the law of noise pollution at the Ontario Bar Association’s Halloween breakfast. Topics included what is noise, who regulates it, how the Environmental Protection Act applies, enforcement under the EPA, bylaws and the OMB, and civil suits for nuisance. For a copy of the presentation (minus the scary soundeffects) click Introduction to the Law of Noise in Ontario, Oct 2012. Thank you to Jackie Campbell for the research and for the decorations.

Hi Diane,
did you mention the oddity that the EPA exempts vehicles from s.9 approval yet the noise reviewers require that on-site vehicle noise emissions be accounted in an application?
