Pollution control 40 years ago, and today

As we prepared for yesterday’s naming of Morton Shulman Avenue, we came across this excerpt from his 1979 book, Member of the Legislature. Arsenic and Old Tories tells how the government stonewalled and denied and refused to do anything effective about  the arsenic contamination being released by an old mine/mill on the Moira River. Read it and weep. Eventually, the province did decide to act; Your tax dollars are still being spent, trying to clean the site up.

I’ve done a lot of research on Moira Lake and River, but I would say the expert would be Miriam Diamond from U of T (whom I believe you also know).
