Renewable energy guidance

by Dianne Saxe on March 4, 2010

Need a renewable energy approval under the Environmental Protection Act for a wind, solar or biomass project? Six new draft technical guidance documents have been released for three months’ public comment,  to May 30, 2010. See EBR Registry Number 010-9235. Applicants should follow the guidance, even before it is formally adopted, and opponents will study the bulletins carefully, looking for support for their concerns.

The draft technical bulletins are: Technical Bulletin #1 Guidance for preparing the Project Description Report as part of an application under O.Reg.359/09
Technical Bulletin #2 Guidance for preparing the Design and Operations Report as part of an application under O.Reg.359/09
Technical Bulletin #3 Guidance for preparing the Construction Plan Report as part of an application under O.Reg.359/09
Technical Bulletin #4 Guidance for preparing the Decommissioning Plan Report as part of an application under O.Reg.359/09
Technical Bulletin #5 Guidance for preparing the Consultation Report as part of an application under O.Reg.359/09
Technical Bulletin #6 Required Setbacks for Wind Turbines under O.Reg.359/09

I have a copy fo the draft REA that I received in March when I attended a Mis-Information session that was put on by Invenergy…It fails to indicate exactly where the turbines will be located within the mapped area indicated as the Wind Farm project…I've followed up a couple of times with the project manager to gather this information with no response forthcoming…Is there a method in this process that will allow me to get a more detailed explanation as to exactly where the infrastructure will be located including confirmation of the set-backs….Otherwise I fear that we will all be sitting in the dark until wind turbines are buzzing overhead….??
