Toxics/ GHG reporting deadline put off

by Dianne Saxe on May 16, 2011

On May 14, 2011, Environment Canada issued a notice extending a filing deadline for their federal GHG and National Pollutant Release Inventory programs until June 17, 2011. The Ontario Ministry of the Environment has authorized a matching delay for  the 2011 annual reports under the Toxics Reduction Act, the Airborne Contaminant Discharge Monitoring and Reporting Regulation, and the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Regulation.  All are now due June 17, instead of June 1, 2011.

To clarify, the Ontario Ministry of the Environment has not changed the June 1, 2011 filing deadline associated with the Toxics Reduction Act, the Airborne Contaminant Discharge Monitoring & Reporting Regulation and the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reporting Regulation. However, in an effort to maintain consistency with changes to the filing deadlines for the federal GHG and NPRI programs and to support program delivery efficiency (as provincial and federal reporting is conducted through the same web-based reporting interface and is, to a certain extent, integrated), the MOE will not be taking action provided that the reports required under provincial law are submitted by June 17, 2011.
