I think your comment that Wal-Mart can have a much bigger impact than any government entity when it comes to green initiatives is the key point to remember.  Just the move to concentrated detergents alone will save 400 million gallons of water, 95 million pounds of plastic resin&#8230;you probably know the rest of that story and many others like it. 
  
I think the thing to remember here as the critics still love to hammer the world&#8217;s largest retailer, is that they are creating these Sustainability initiatives while being held to the standards of Wall Street.  If they were to just hit the control-alt-delete button and change to meet the critic&#8217;s standards, there would be no business left to Sustain.  
  
I am impressed that they are even talking about this as a major focus, and talking about it a lot.  I don&#8217;t see Target or Home Depot or Costco moving with the same vigor as Wal-Mart. 
  
The bottom line is that companies like Wal-Mart need to see some kind of return for their efforts to green their business, and we as responsible consumers should reward these companies for moving in that direction.
